Wimbledon Theatre opened with a pantomime of Jack & Jill on 26th December 1910. It was very popular through the first 20 years of the theatre's life. It almost faced closure in 1965 as a direct result of WW II, but luckily it was bought by the local authority who went on to renovate it, and it reopened in 1968. Many famous faces from many different eras have appeared on its stage including Gracie Fields, Marlene Dietrich and Danny La Rue. This venue is also available for private bookings.
