St Giles Cathedral is a 15th century cathedral, with a Victorian gothic exterior. The thistle chapel was designed by Robert Lorimer in 1911. It contains stalls for 16 knights, a sovereign's stall and 2 royal stalls. The intricate detail of the interior is immense, down to angels playing bagpipes. The order of the Thistle is one of the country's highest honours. The origin of the Order itself can be traced back to the Middle Ages. Entry to the cathedral is free, but donations are warmly welcomed.
