Edinburgh Castle is one of the most famous Scottish castles, and stands where there was once a fort built by the King Edwin of Northumbria in 629AD. The oldest part still standing is St Margaret's Chapel, dating from 1076, which King Malcolm III built for his wife, the Queen Margaret. The castle houses the Honours (Crown Jewels) of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny, the famous 15th century gun Mons Meg, the One o' Clock Gun and the National War Museum of Scotland.
